On a more personal note I was half happy I finally had something from Saiyuki but almost disappointed on first opening the book that there were no other manga's by the artist, was I ever thriller to find some astounding images that I have never seen before! Along with some of the main cast that I had never seen before!

Saiyuki came out a little before Weiss Kreuz, but on first looking at the two before knowing either story they look surprisingly and disturbingly similar. Though I think Saiyuki is a little bit more grown up, and deals with a totally different story line, the characters are similar in lots of ways that I have explained on my web site to either title.

I think Kazuya Minekura has the same smoking complex as Mamiya Oki. For there is hardly a chara that is not depicted with a cigarette in his lips...
Though I think Minekura's characters can not be called Beautiful or pretty and defiantly even the slightly Bishonen chara are not completely what we know as bish... They are some how mesmerising, I think that's why I love Minekura so much, just like I like FAKE, they are MEN not boy's and a little bit to human in their appearance. The artwork also seems to skip on the more darker side of manga.
Where as Weiss Kreuz seems a little bit to clean cut for a bunch of assassin florists, I think Minekura would have pulled it off with that edge of sinister ness that Weiss Kreuz is lacking in some way...

All in all this is a well understated Artist in the West and should be given more credit and given a larger fan base!

But then I feel all the great artist that I love are never given enough credit, Mamiya Oki for one, though I do love CLAMP's darker works I think they are getting a little TO commercialised with thing's like Cardcaptor Sakura >_<.

Well that's all for this rant :P
